Thank you for your interest in the Alfonso Loera Music Scholarship. Two types of scholarships are available. Read the description of each below before filling out the rest of the application. You may apply for only one type of award. To be eligible, you must be a resident of Muskegon County, between the ages of 12 and 24. The application process may include an interview/audition. You will be notified if/when the interview/audition process will take place. Please use only the forms included in this packet.
Type I: This scholarship type is intended for the applicant who desires to take one year of private music lessons from either an individual or a music retailer (48 weeks at the prevailing rate for private lessons).
Type II: This scholarship type is intended for the applicant who wishes to pursue music studies through an accredited college (the sum of this scholarship is equal to the amount specified in Type I and is to be applied toward tuition or other related expenses).
The following items must be included in the application for it to be considered for an award.
1. A completed Student Application printed using BLACK INK OR TYPED
2. Two Applicant Appraisal Forms - To be filled out by someone you choose (A music instructor, band director, high school counselor, a college advisor, an instructor, a professional person, or a supervisor must complete this appraisal.) It is your responsibility to make sure this form reaches our office by the deadline.
