The Alfonso Loera Music Scholarship Fund, administered by the Community Foundation for Muskegon County, provides private lesson scholarships to allow young musicians to carry on the impact of the life of Alfonso Loera.
The main VISION of the Alfonso Loera Music Scholarship is a program that lasts for years, honors the name and musical passion of Alfonso Loera, and benefits the Muskegon community students of music.
The main MISSION of the A.L.M.S. is to coordinate community efforts in Alfonso's name, promote events that generate revenue, and deposit 100% of that revenue in a legally bonded Community Foundation Fund.
This scholarship was created for Muskegon County Musicians, age 12 to 24, who would like to either take private music lessons or get formal schooling in music.
The scholarship will be awarded with preference for financial need, and the amount will equal one year of private lessons (at the prevailing rate) but can be applied as the recipients wants, either for school or lessons.
The applicant will need to demonstrate some sort of base talent and the application process will include submitting a tape or performing at an audition.
Applicants may apply for the scholarship annually, but there will only be one award per person per year. Applicants will be screened by the Alfonso Loera Music Scholarship Committee.
